‘The Red Forest’, Pencil, crayons and ink, 2017
Artist: Lucille Martial
“I am a native of Abitibi and I was welcomed by L’Arche Amos in 1991, and then I moved south to L’Arche Beloeil in 1997. Now I live in the home La Montagne [the Mountain]; I’m retired and I like to go to the Pot-en-ciel workshop to draw and to the Pot-au-feu workshop to cook. I am very proud of my artwork.”
Artist’s Statement
La forêt rouge [the Red Forest]: it’s a forest with autumn’s red trees and Mont St-Hilaire. It’s pretty, isn’t it? There’s a river, la rivière Richelieu. I really like to make beautiful canvases. I learned to make flowers, trees, faces and very colourful people.”
